Penguins, Punta Tomba, Predators

One of the days, we went to a place called Punta Tomba. It had thousands of penguins and was pretty incredible. it was in Argentina and the port city was Puerto Madryn which was a really neat little town all on its own. I enjoyed the stories of how they used to only have one telephone in the town and so forth. :)

Anyway, we went to see the penguins who all nest in the hills. The parents go down to the water to get food for the babies and then they recognize them by smell and feed them (which is why if you ever see a baby penguin, you shouldn't touch it!)

It was pretty incredible to simply be walking amongst them. There was what seemed to be the little highway down to the ocean for the penguins to go down. So they'd waddle their way down. Very cool. And the scenery was breathtaking.

My favorite were the two fiesty, attacking penguins.. The woman in front of me was getting attacked in the shoes by them.. then they went for her purse and started yanking at it as she passed by. I was behind her...wearing flip flops. Not a good idea when surrounded by the violent penguins.. Thankfully I ran past safely and am here to tell the tale today. Needless to say, penguins are slowly but surely taking over the world as they slowly move north. They may seem soft and fuzzy.. but watch out.

I made friends with the penguins. Most people were scared to get close, but I figured this penguin just wanted to pose for a picture with me. Makes sense.

And that's it for now. Stay tuned for Uruguay and some more penguins on the Falkland Islands!
