Alexandria, Anubis, Arabic

After Sinai, we headed to Alexandria, which is right on the coast. it is the town where Alexander the Great first came to. The lighthouse of Alexandria (one of the 7 wonders of the ancient world) was located there so that was kind of neat to be there.

The mosque in the building at the lighthouse location

Flag of Egypt

Colosseum

Pillar of Pompei
We also went to some Catacombs in Alexandria but we weren't allowed taking pictures but it was pretty cool inside

Mosque

Anubis (i think) the jackal and also the god of mummification

Queen Hatchepsut

This Pharoah's name started with an a and i dont' remember it, but he had a disease that made him have a lot of feminine features in his face

a book written in arabic-thought it looked pretty cool

All these statues were from the museum in Alexandria. Cool that you could take picture there!

This picture was from a Coptic monastery. He showed us the place where they had the bones of John the Baptist and Elisha. hmm.. not so sure about that one. haha how would they know?

The cemetery and memorial for World War II

The view from our hotel in Alexandria. Every day we went swimming in the Mediterranean and enjoyed looking at the Palace of King Farouk. The hotel is actually on the grounds of where the palace was. The king was overthrown and was the last king of Egypt. The beaches in Alexandria were crazy packed. It was umbrella against umbrella and about 10 people huddled under each umbrella. There were thousands of people there.. haha. I could not imagine being there!

Mohammed Ali's Mosque (his remains are above)

I love all the hyroglyphics and carvings. So crazy to think how long they've been there!
