Airplane, Abu Simbel, Amazing

Abu Simbel is considered one of the most famous places next to the pyramids and King Tut's tomb. Everyone supposedly knows about it because years ago when the high dam was being built, it was at danger of being flooded. These temples were carved straight into a rock mountain. So they displaced the whole mountain and the temples about 200 metres away-amazing. These were some of the most incredible temples we'd been to. The engravings inside were spectacular. Sadly we weren't allowed to take pictures inside, but here's some photos of the outside.

These were two temples built by Ramses the II. One was for him and one was for his favorite wife (out of 44) Nefertari. However, there's statues of him all over his wife's temple too-go figure

(Well maybe they're not exactly "ruins" because they are in amazingly good shape for being so old.) The size of the statues and structures and the workmanship are incredible.

haha, I love that i've never heard of the place that everybody knows about! It must have been so amazing to see all that - i can't imagine from the pictures how big and grand it all must be in real life.
