Hats, Hair, Happy

I have a paper to write. Hence why I am blogging.

This week has been full of helping Des prepare for her wedding which is now only 8 days away! (yay!) So yesterday we decided that amidst the stuff we had to get done, we'd go on a date night.
We picked up the stuff for the favors on the way, stopped at IKEA and filled my entire vehicle with finds, and headed on our merry way to Vancouver! We went to Granville Island where we enjoyed wandering around the markets and of course, the hat store. I absolutely love hat stores and often which my head wasn't abnormally large so that it could actually fit the hats I could buy.
Then again, I probably wouldn't have anywhere to store the hats, so perhaps my large head is a blessings. Saves space and money. Doesn't stop me from trying them on in the store though!
For these hats, the lady said "if you put the string behind your head and under your hair, you won't look so dorky." I thought we looked cool. Apparently we looked like dorks. Happy dorks mind you.
On the way into Vancouver, I waved at someone I saw waving, and Desiree proceeded to wave, and then proclaimed "why are we waving?"
For dinner we went to the Keg as per tradition and it was fantastic! So tasty!
Then we went to the Waterfront Theatre to go see the musical Hair, which was fantastically done. I know a lot of the songs in it but had never actually seen it, but it was great. Even better were the comments from different people to each other during intermission. haha
And today, with the temptation to organize my life with all the ikea purchases I got, I will use some self-control and instead read through this stack of books and stack of articles and an attempt to write a paper after a year and a half of not writing one.
Paper is due tomorrow. As well as a 2 hour final I have to write. So today and tomorrow are committed to lovingly finishing this online class that I have oft forgotten. At least I have this bowl of cherries to keep me company. And after the bowl, I will probably have the toilet to keep me company.

Have a wonderful day and a great long weekend!

May, Mummifying, Mayhem

Someone mentioned today that their birthday is in May. I proceeded to proclaim "Oh, that's so exciting that it's coming up then, what day is it?" Then I realize that it is now June. Wow. Where did May go? And why didn't it tell me it was here and has already left?

Reminds me of one of my favorite quotes {I apologize if I have already shared it}: "Life is like a roll of toilet paper; the closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes." So true. Perhaps a bit too true.

This last weekend was very full again. But also had some relaxing in it too which was well needed. Plus that online class that I keep forgetting I am taking. I went to Eat Vancouver on Saturday with my mom, Brooke and Colleen. While we were there, we met up with Maia, Dave and Adri and we all went to a cheese tasting.
I learned a lot about cheese. And it was fun to try it too! Did you know that you should wash your hands before you touch cheese? And wrap it in new saran/ziploc whenever you put it back in the fridge? Otherwise it increases the chance of mold growth tenfold. Interesting.
The cheese was tasty! And the company was great! We were exhausted by the end of the day but tried a lot of great stuff. I even tried Kangaroo sliders! Yum! They were tasty! Hope to pick some up sometime as a matter of fact.. along with some camel burgers.
Saturday evening, I was blessed to babysit five wonderful children while their parents went to a wedding. They decided it would be fun to mummify each other. It was quite funny actually. And they knew a lot of information about how mummies are mummified in ancient Egypt. I was impressed. And it was a fun evening!

Sunday I was on worship team at church, then had a mexico missions meeting/luncheon, then I had a bbq with people who had been involved with worship arts at church and then hung out with a friend in the evening. Busy day, but great to see different people and get to know some people even better.

Today I had to take my vehicle in to get serviced and Maia was kind enough to rescue me. We enjoyed breakfast at IHOP {I thought it would be fun to hop into the restaurant but that sadly did not happen.. next time?} Then we came home and watched 'My Fair Lady.'

After getting home from prison volunteering tonight, I had a bunch of people at my place {who were there before me.. haha} and we enjoyed cheesecake {which I have far too much leftover of} and watched 7 Brides for 7 Brothers- GREAT musical! so fun! I think I have seen parts of it before, but it was great to watch all of it.
Cedric joined us for breakfast.
And my favorite little man, who I realize is not so much a baby anymore as he walks/runs to me! Crazy how time flies!!
And here is my impulsive move of the day: cutting my hair. Initial reaction: hatred.

It's growing on me (literally.. hahahaha). A bit too short for my liking, but I guess I wasn't clear enough when giving my mom instructions! My fault! Oh well, the nice thing about hair is that it grows back! Phewf.

Life feels like pure tornado mayhem of late. I'm tired. But excited for everything that is happening. Now I'm off to bed so I can wake up bright and early for breakfast in the hot tub with a friend! Great way to start the day! Happy Tuesday!

Cookies, Colored, Crazy

Thursday was my cousin and friend, Desiree's birthday. So, we decided to celebrate in the morning by making JamJam cookies. Lately we have decided to use different cookie cutters depending on the holiday nearby. So we decided to make little chicks. At the bottom of this post are two of our classic singing videos made just for your enjoyment. Let me know what you think! :)
And as you can tell by these pictures, I dyed my hair!! I have never really dyed it before, except for a couple streaks when I was younger, so I was definitely branching out! I have always wanted darker hair, so I figured I'd give it a shot. On Sunday night my mom dyed it, it dried and it was the same color as before. haha. So the next day I bought some more hair dye and it actually worked this time! It has a reddish tinge which I think is a result of the combo of the two dyes, but i LOVE the way it turned out! And it makes my eyes look really blue which is fun!

This weekend has been kind of crazy with having to work lots and sing on worship team at church. I got called a couple days ago to fill in at church this weekend, but it's been a lot of fun so far! It's Palm Sunday and so we have a pretty stellar drumline which peps things up a lot! Listening to the sermon tonight I am once again reminded of the fact that some of my beliefs don't match up with what I know to be true in my head. I need to make it heart knowledge and come to a place where I actually believe these things. So, I am entering into honest dialogues with God. Funny how it's still so hard to be brutally honest to God, yet, I struggle with it.

Anyway, have a happy rest of the weekend!!

My latest countdowns:
Days until Lindie comes to visit: 9
Days until classes are over: 26
Days until my last shift at Starbucks: 29
Days until exams are over: 36
Days until I leave for Guatemala: 44
