Grace, God, Gifts

Lately I have been overwhelmed with the grace of God. In so many ways. I'm relearning it and being reminded of it and seeing its practicality walked out in day to day life.

Over the last two weeks, I have been overwhelmed with God's incredible miracle of life. And His gift of it to us. One of my dear friends just had her third child and the road that brought them to have this little treasure was a long one, but here she is and she is precious. And loved. And perfect. I am reminded that in all the storms, God is there, as the one who anchors us, the one who makes sense of things. And no, we might not have the answers or understanding to everything, but suddenly we receive this incredible gift amidst it. And we cling to the fact that we know God must be good. God must be love. Because even though most of the world around us doesn't make sense, this does and it is proof of God's goodness.

So I have been enjoying snuggling with this precious little babe. And seeing her siblings enjoy having a new little sister as well. Life is so fragile, yet so incredible precious. The thought of it makes me marvel in awe of having such an incredible God.

Newborn, Niece, November

November 14th. The day 9 lbs and 2 oz of perfection entered the world.

The day she stole my heart and made me an even prouder Aunty! {if that were even possible}

The day P loved on his little sister for the first time.

I love November 14th :)

{And in the first photo you'll notice that they have upped security and have an alarm anklet to prevent baby shoplifting}

Photoshoot, Photography, Pictures

I've been toying around with the idea of starting a photography business for the last little while. As I have thought about it a bit more, I have decided I'd like to do a mix of travel photography (selling prints- or if you want to hire me to come on holidays with you as your photographer) and portraits/photoshoots. So right now I'm collecting a portfolio, so if anyone wants some free pics taken, let me know!

Today I got the chance to photograph one of my favorite (and cutest I might add) subjects.

Was so much fun to play and walk around and just capture him in his natural environment. And he was all smiles as always.

So here are just a few (out of the 200 or so) that I took this morning! I keep looking at them and admiring how incredibly cute he is. I just can't get enough.

So I'm biased, but I love watching him run around excitedly!

So that was the joy of my morning!

Definitely brings an infinite smile to my face. :)

So, let me know if you want a photoshoot and we can hook something up.. okay, we'll hook it up in October, but that works!

Also, if you want a postcard in my next few travels, shoot me an email (vanessa.s.maree@gmail.com) and I will add your address to my mailing list!

Enjoy the rest of your day! A post to come tonight (hopefully) about the next leg of adventures!

May, Mummifying, Mayhem

Someone mentioned today that their birthday is in May. I proceeded to proclaim "Oh, that's so exciting that it's coming up then, what day is it?" Then I realize that it is now June. Wow. Where did May go? And why didn't it tell me it was here and has already left?

Reminds me of one of my favorite quotes {I apologize if I have already shared it}: "Life is like a roll of toilet paper; the closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes." So true. Perhaps a bit too true.

This last weekend was very full again. But also had some relaxing in it too which was well needed. Plus that online class that I keep forgetting I am taking. I went to Eat Vancouver on Saturday with my mom, Brooke and Colleen. While we were there, we met up with Maia, Dave and Adri and we all went to a cheese tasting.
I learned a lot about cheese. And it was fun to try it too! Did you know that you should wash your hands before you touch cheese? And wrap it in new saran/ziploc whenever you put it back in the fridge? Otherwise it increases the chance of mold growth tenfold. Interesting.
The cheese was tasty! And the company was great! We were exhausted by the end of the day but tried a lot of great stuff. I even tried Kangaroo sliders! Yum! They were tasty! Hope to pick some up sometime as a matter of fact.. along with some camel burgers.
Saturday evening, I was blessed to babysit five wonderful children while their parents went to a wedding. They decided it would be fun to mummify each other. It was quite funny actually. And they knew a lot of information about how mummies are mummified in ancient Egypt. I was impressed. And it was a fun evening!

Sunday I was on worship team at church, then had a mexico missions meeting/luncheon, then I had a bbq with people who had been involved with worship arts at church and then hung out with a friend in the evening. Busy day, but great to see different people and get to know some people even better.

Today I had to take my vehicle in to get serviced and Maia was kind enough to rescue me. We enjoyed breakfast at IHOP {I thought it would be fun to hop into the restaurant but that sadly did not happen.. next time?} Then we came home and watched 'My Fair Lady.'

After getting home from prison volunteering tonight, I had a bunch of people at my place {who were there before me.. haha} and we enjoyed cheesecake {which I have far too much leftover of} and watched 7 Brides for 7 Brothers- GREAT musical! so fun! I think I have seen parts of it before, but it was great to watch all of it.
Cedric joined us for breakfast.
And my favorite little man, who I realize is not so much a baby anymore as he walks/runs to me! Crazy how time flies!!
And here is my impulsive move of the day: cutting my hair. Initial reaction: hatred.

It's growing on me (literally.. hahahaha). A bit too short for my liking, but I guess I wasn't clear enough when giving my mom instructions! My fault! Oh well, the nice thing about hair is that it grows back! Phewf.

Life feels like pure tornado mayhem of late. I'm tired. But excited for everything that is happening. Now I'm off to bed so I can wake up bright and early for breakfast in the hot tub with a friend! Great way to start the day! Happy Tuesday!

Cuddly, Cute, Coming

Lately I have been enjoying many wonderful days with great friends hanging out in Vancouver and taking in the Olympic madness. Part of this has been walking around and enjoying the sights and people and then also going to some of the events. I have a bunch of pictures to share but won't upload them now because I'm really tired. Lots of thoughts about it too.

But for now just wanted to say hello. I had an eventful weekend and am excited for this new week as well and everything it brings. More to come. :) And here's a picture of my nephew for now just because I think he's pretty much the definition of cuteness (for me anyway).

Have a great week!

Jays, Junior, Joyous

The day after the wedding, we all (17 of us) went to a Blue Jays game. I'm a fan of baseball usually for the first four innings, but this game was actually great for the whole thing! Maybe it's because we were seventh row, in line with first base and so the action was right there in your face. It was Parks' first pro sporting event-hoorah! Okay, I don't think he liked all the loud cheering much, but that's okay. He'll grow to love it I"m sure!

The newlyweds

My aunty Esther

We went for dinner in Toronto and then played around doing some night photography afterwards. In moments like these I always wish I had a tripod.. I get to be creative with it instead! :)

Chad and I shared a monstrous hot dog at the baseball game!

Bobbi's friend Julie and my cousin Adrielle- we all went out for ice cream after.

Evidently Parks was not nearly as excited as I was about taking this picture... Here's some other pics that I thought were cute.

Feet, Fun, Fast

My favorite little feet (okay so I am a little gung-ho but bear with me!) I LOVE buying clothes for my nephew. I may go overboard every once in a while (that being every time I go shopping) but it's worth it!! :) So here's a picture with Parks and a few new outfits! :)

Baby, Beautiful, Banessa

Here are some more pictures of my precious nephew!! The kids in Quebec always called me Banessa before they could pronounce the "v" in my name and somehow it has caught on with a lot of people as my nickname. So now Chad has labelled me as Aunty "Banessa", with a strong emphasis on the "B". haha.. I will embrace my newly popular nickname! :)
