Canucks, Cup, Cheering

Since the day I came home, I have been enjoying everything about the Canucks playoffs. I was sad to miss the first few weeks, but excited that they have been playing amazingly and that I could join in with the cheering fan base.

There's something about being at a game that cannot be fully explained, until you are there and hear the thunderous roar of the crowd, feel the towel lint irritating your eyes, jumping up at every goal and good play.

And Round 3, Game 5 was exceptionally exciting. My heart was racing most of the time, my cheeks were rosy and I was on the edge of my seat.

And we WON! For the first time in 17 years, we are off to the 4th round once again. SO exciting! I remember going to the playoffs 17 years ago when I was 10 and so I am excited to go again and appreciate it through new eyes.

And even being in downtown Vancouver is exhilarating. Horns honking, giving everybody high five, cheering loudly, waving your towel around... so great! There's something special about when everyone gathers together and cheers for a common thing. It is unifying and bonding in a unique way.

Now we will just wait to see who we play in Round 4 and until then I will keep my evenings open so I can continue cheering until the end! Hope you are also enjoying the playoff run!

Driving, Darling, Dinner

Delaying my dinner plans are definitely worth it for this little guy. Was hanging out with him and got to babysit him unexpectedly which was great. And I love it when the weather's nice, because that means we get to play outside! And he is mr. outdoorsman to be sure.

Every time he sees tractors, trucks, or anything with an engine, he makes driving noises. So here is practicing driving the tractor. And he did such a good job I figured I'd let him take a try at driving my vehicle too. He's really great at turning the hazards on.
We also enjoyed some dancing, peek-a-boo, and hide and seek inside. Anything to get a giggle or a smile, which is pretty much all the time and melts my heart. :)

And I do love his crazy hair along with the stunning smile.

And I love how he wears ear muffs and walks around the house yelling as loud as he can because it sounds funny when he has them on.
Wonderful afternoon and evening! Then dinner with some friends and planning for our fun-filled weekend. We were going to go camping, but instead, we are going to do laundry, dinner and a movie on Friday, go canoeing all day Saturday up the Indian Arm, and on Sunday, go to church, golfing and have a BBQ and swimming in the evening. With a slumber party in between! What fun it shall be!

Scavenger, Seasons, Sad

As promised, here are some photos from our youth photo scavenger hunt from last week. For those of you who don't know what a photo scavenger hunt is, it is when you split into two teams and both teams have to get pictures of random things. You have a list and you have to try and get as many of those pictures as you can!

Jumping off a swingset

With a worker in a grocery store

Hugging a stranger

Team in a shopping cart

Getting money out of the ATM (LOVE all the green in this pic)

Doing what a sign says

Upside down

Jumping

On a playground

Everyone in a chair

Handstands or Somersaults

Group Hug
"I can't believe we all fit in here"

So those are just a few of the photos, from my team! Haven't found out who won yet, but we will have the winners on Tuesday!

A couple weeks ago after a lot of back and forth decision making, I resigned from my job at the church when my contract ends in June. It ranks up there with some of the hardest decisions I have made because there were so many factors involved, but in the end, I feel peace about this one. It has definitely be an adventure running the youth group and sometimes I don't feel like I've done that great of a job, but it is what it has been and I will celebrate it! And I'm excited that I can still be involved with youth in the fall, even if not leading it. So that makes "leaving" easier, but I was still sad on a lot of levels.. so we will see what the next season brings!

Mexico, Mint, Movie, Mamma Mia

To answer the question in your mind, NO i am not going to mexico.. hehe.. My mom is there right now and so I have the house to myself which is kind of nice. I can have different friends over and pretend that I'm an independent responsible individual (it's nice to be able to fool myself for at least a week).

Wednesday I had my second exam. My prof originally said that if we wrote it in under an hour, we would probably fail. In my own pride, I decided I would make it my personal goal to write it as fast as possible.. and I wrote it in half an hour.. pretty sure i didn't fail, but then i thought it would be kind of funny/ironic if I really did fail.. hehe.. okay, i'm sure i wouldn't be okay with it, but whatever! :)

Yesterday was the last day of classes, so in the evening, Jocelyn came over for a hot tub and we ate a lot of mint chocolate chip ice cream. Generally I don't like ice cream, but last night I really wanted it and mint chocolate chip is the one kind I really like. It was a nice little celebration.

My cousin Desiree and I went for a bike ride today after a long break with no biking. It was great to be outside again! Then we made a video for your enjoyment of what a typical phone message is between us (except far more rowdy and creative than what's on the video..hope you enjoy it though!! we think we're pretty funny...) Then we watched The Lady and the Tramp which was fantastic! Hadn't seen it in a while, so it was good to watch again!

Tonight Chrystal and I are going for dinner in Vancouver and then to Mamma Mia! I'm pretty excited-it should be a lot of fun!!

And here's the quote for the day to give some food for thought:

"I sense that there is something very special about the transformed qualities of faith, love, and hope. This is very hard to describe, and my attempts always feel shabby; but I must try. In their truly contemplative and transformed state faith, hope, and love are tied to no particular ends; they have no object. Contemplative faith is not faith that God exists, that life is essentially good, or that this or that is true. All such things are beliefs, not faith. Faith is, instead, a way of being, completely open, empty, as John would say, of all specifics. Contemplative faith is more like a continual fire of goodness, warming and illuminating every breath. Contemplative love is completey beyond comprehension. It is not love of some things to the exclusion of others, for that would be attachment. True love is like some infinite way of being that we become part of: a flowing energy of willingness, an eternal yes resounding with every heartbeat. And contemplative hope, the transformed hope, is also completely open and free. It is not hope for peace or justice or healing; that also would be attachment. It is just hope, naked hope, a bare energy of open expectancy." -Gerald May from "The Dark Night of the Soul"

And my updated countdown:
NO more days of classes!!!
1 more shift at Starbucks!!
2 more exams!
4 more days until a getaway to Seattle!
11 days until Leslie comes (and Earth Day-woohoo)
15 days until Guatemala!! (ahhh.. crazy!)

Hope you all have a great day!! If the video doesn't show up, just click the big black empty space.. flick your mouse to the bottom left of it and the play sign should show up.. don't know why it doesn't show up on mine.. and it'll come hopefully-be sure to have your volume up to hear our lovely voices!

Pride, Prejudice, Plays

Last night I went to Trinity's production of Pride and Prejudice and it was fantastic!! So well done!! The characters were very well portrayed and they way the did the set was pure genius!! Made me want to watch the movie (both versions again) and re-read the book! :)

That'll be a great combo-oh well, at least I can drink copious amounts of caffeine while i work!!
